Four of our members were invited to perform outside the Goodspeed Opera House on the opening night of “It’s a Wonderful Life” this year. The quartet played for about an hour before the performance, welcoming the attendees in style and bringing some of the Christmas spirit to the mid-September musical. The bells were a wonderful kickoff to this event because “every time a bell rings, an angel gets its wings.”
Shoreline Ringers performed a few selections, including a hymn with the organ, at the June 29 convocation for the American Guild of Organists 2015 convention in New Haven. Jane Nolan ran a workshop for some of the organists that afternoon. Many of the musicians had never before played handbells or handchimes, but before the hour was over, they processed through the church ringing a memorized melody and played a song with organ accompaniment!
